Project overview
In February 2025, our team was contacted by a homeowner in Kirkby in Ashfield who wanted their old asbestos cement garage roof removed. The garage structure itself was still in good condition, so the customer’s priority was to have the hazardous roof sheets taken away and the garage left ready for re-roofing.
Customer pain points
- The garage roof was made of asbestos cement sheets that had deteriorated over time.
- The homeowner was concerned about the risks of asbestos fibre release if the roof was left in place.
- They wanted the roof removed quickly so that a new, modern roof could be installed.
- Full paperwork confirming safe disposal was required for peace of mind.
Our solution
Our asbestos removal team carried out the work safely and efficiently. We:
- Completed a risk assessment before beginning the works.
- Removed the asbestos cement sheets in controlled sections, wrapping and sealing them securely.
- Transported the asbestos waste directly to our own licensed asbestos disposal site, issuing full disposal paperwork to the customer.
- Left the garage structure intact and ready for re-roofing.
Challenges we worked around
The garage was positioned close to neighbouring properties, so extra care was taken during removal to ensure the work was carried out safely without causing disturbance. Controlled lifting techniques and appropriate PPE were used throughout.
The result
The project was completed within a single day, leaving the homeowner with:
- Their asbestos garage roof safely removed.
- Peace of mind that asbestos had been handled and disposed of correctly.
- Compliance paperwork for their records.
- A garage structure ready for the installation of a new roof.
The customer was very pleased with the professional service and relieved to have a safer garage ready for upgrading.
