Project overview
In January 2025, our team was called to a working farm in Derbyshire where several redundant asbestos cement sheets and pipework had been left in outbuildings and yard areas. The farmer wanted the asbestos cleared quickly and safely to free up space and ensure the site remained compliant with health and safety standards.
Customer pain points
- Large quantities of asbestos cement sheets and pipework were stored across the site.
- The farmer was concerned about the risk of fibres being released if the materials were disturbed by machinery, livestock, or bad weather.
- The asbestos was preventing the farm from using certain areas effectively.
- They wanted the clearance carried out efficiently to minimise disruption to the working farm.
Our solution
Our asbestos removal team carried out a thorough site assessment before beginning works. We:
- Safely gathered and handled all asbestos cement materials using controlled methods.
- Double-wrapped and sealed the waste in line with HSE guidance.
- Transported the asbestos directly to our own licensed asbestos disposal site, providing the farmer with full disposal paperwork for peace of mind.
- Cleared the entire site in a single visit, leaving the area clean and safe for ongoing farm use.
Challenges we worked around
Farm sites present unique challenges, including uneven ground, livestock movements, and large storage areas. We carefully planned vehicle movements and used specialist handling equipment to ensure asbestos was collected safely without disturbing farm operations.
The result
The project was completed efficiently, giving the customer:
- A farm site free from asbestos hazards.
- Peace of mind that the waste had been disposed of at a licensed facility.
- Compliance documentation for their records.
The farmer was very satisfied with how quickly the work was completed and relieved to have a safer, cleaner site moving forward.
